Time to drink the good stuff like there’s no tomorrow* #5
After a day-off(-ish) but not 100% Sherry-less day yesterday, time to get back on the horse!
Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes Cuvée Bahère de Lanlay, Hospices de Beaune 2010
Burgundy 13.5%
Absolutely on point White Burgundy and what a perfect time to enjoy. Precisely 100% of everything else is turning to shit, so why not?
Pastry, apple tarte-tatin, ginger, crème anglaise, honeysuckle and candied lemon peel to scent. Far more sweet vanilla oak to taste than the aroma hinted at, but with a lemon-meringue freshness of fruit. Zesty rich nut-oil palate coating texture with deep honey and slight spice flavours. Some warm stone mineral, but majoring on the sweet honeyed fruit. Very citrussy and expansively long finish.
I seriously cannot see this bottle surviving beyond tonight. Utterly delicious compelling wine.
I still have another bottle of this, and - deity permitting - will be in no hurry to drink that
